The article presents the concept of "The Quartet of health" as an important part of modern preventive medicine, aimed at increasing life expectancy and quality of life. The concept of "The Quartet of health" is based on the understanding of the pathogenetic mechanisms of cellular aging and is a complex metabolic therapy. Four components of "The Quartet of health" are sex hormones (maintaining their physiological levels), vitamin D, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and a-lipoic acid. In this article the authors substantiate the necessity of including in this concept each of the listed components based on modern concepts about the prevention and treatment of age-associated diseases. Special attention is paid to skin aging and the role of each of the components of "The Quartet of health" in the prevention and treatment of skin damage associated with age.
